What is Companion Care?
Non-clinical social support
Companion care is about social connection, emotional wellbeing and independent living — not personal care or medical assistance. Our companions provide conversation, outings, hobby activities, and a warm, trusted presence.
This is distinct from regulated personal care (such as help with washing, dressing, or medication). If you or your loved one requires regulated care activities, you will need a CQC-registered care provider.
Important: Kirk Group companion services are non-clinical and do not include personal care, medication administration or any regulated care activities. If you require regulated personal care, please speak to a qualified care agency registered with the CQC.
Simple Process
How It Works
Whether you're looking for a companion for yourself or a loved one, or you want to become a companion — we've made the process straightforward.
Tell us what you need
Fill out our simple request form. Tell us about the person who needs a companion, their interests, preferences, and what kind of support would help most.
We match you with a companion
Our team reviews your request and matches you with a fully vetted companion whose personality and skills are a genuine fit — not just availability.
Your companion visits or calls
Once matched, your companion begins visits or remote calls at your preferred schedule. We check in regularly to make sure everything is going well.
Real Stories
Making a Real Difference
Loneliness affects millions of people across the UK. Here's what our companion care has meant to real people and their families.
“Having a companion visit twice a week has made such a difference. My mother actually looks forward to her visits — she's laughing again. The loneliness was the hardest part, and now it's not.”
Sarah T.
Daughter of a client
“I was nervous about reaching out, but the team were so kind. My companion takes me to the garden centre on Thursdays and we have a proper chat. It's given me something to look forward to every week.”
Dennis W.
Client, aged 81
“After Dad's stroke, he became very withdrawn. His companion has been incredibly patient and warm — they play chess, watch old films, and just talk. We've noticed a real improvement in his mood.”
